BIAS LOUNGE

Berlin-based designers David Geckeler and Frank Michels – who have always taken a keen interest in materials and technology – are the creative talents behind the recently expanded Bias collection. There is now a lounge chair to go with the table that was presented at the Salone del Mobile in 2018.
It all began with the idea of a fluttering sheet of paper resting gracefully on a sloping cylinder. The minimalist body calls to mind Finnish chairs made of sheets of wood.
 

The entire Bias collection of coffee tables is based on a few geometric elements: the key distinctive feature is the base of the sloping cylinder. A flat sheet has been shaped into a three-dimensional curved shell to form the lounge chair.
 

There is also a padded version available with thin but high-density foam for superior comfort. Its outstanding originality and innovation are inspired by new ergonomic approaches based on modern lifestyles.
